Clothing Closet

Since 1944, the purpose of the Children’s Clothing Closet has been to provide supplemental clothing to  needy children in our county. Typically, over 1,000 children in Henderson County receive needed clothing each year.

Through referrals from schools, social and family agencies, churches, and government agencies, we will outfit children ages newborn through eighteen years who are attending school, with two new outfits free of charge. We also provide two new pairs of socks and underwear. Clients may be referred to the Children’s Clothing Closet once during January-April, and once during August-December.

To refer a child for clothing between August and April, please use our online referral form. You must be a representative of an organization submitting a referral for a parent. We do not accept requests directly from parents, but we do encourage parents to ask a teacher, pastor, social worker, or another person familiar with your family’s need, to make a referral on your behalf.

Volunteers, who are members of the Junior Woman’s Club of Hendersonville, staff the Children’s Clothing Closet. The volunteers work on Saturday mornings from 9am-11am to fill referrals, which have been faxed during the previous week.
